A documentary project where I photographed and wrote about the objects in my family's house. Suburban archeology spanning Los Angeles, to Taipei. Read about it at Apartment Therapy or watch Derek Kirk Kim's documentary about it.
I'm the author of the first ever U.S. book on how-to and a history-of karaoke! I was at one point, America's foremost karaoke expert. Karaoke, oh what a feeling! Published by Chronicle Books, 2008.
This award was presented to me for my contributions to video game history and writing at the Official Walter Day Trading Card Museum, at John Week's Museum of Pinball, in Banning, California, January 17, 2015.
I published three issues of 1-Up Magazine from 2001-2004, the first handmade zine with stories from the video game underground. A paralyzed man playing Tetris to stay sane, Street Fighter II urban legends, interviews with Billy "King of Kong" Mitchell and Walter Day, and coverage of video game arcade protests! Video game activism at it's best, and heralded as an early voice in game writing feminism. Includes artwork from indie cartoonists and artists. I have given numerous lectures in Austria and the U.K. about 1-Up gaming culture and have been featured on G4TV, The Face (UK), Wired to name a few. Contact me directly for an issue.
